Top ethical fashion choices for Spring 2015

28th March 2015

Finally, the weather is warming up and it’s time to think about packing away our winter wardrobe and getting ready for Spring.

But what hot trends are on the horizon for 2015?

First and foremost, ethical fashion lovers should be thinking about big, bold prints and vibrant colours, which are promising to be a big hit this year after featuring on all of the catwalks.

So as the warmer weather approaches, consider dresses like this one from Skunkfunk, which captures the bold and colourful trend perfectly. It’s really flattering and it’s made from a lovely silky material that feels great on your skin.

And while we’re on the subject of colours, the hot fashion news is that the classic combo of black and white is making a comeback for Spring 2015.

If you fancy giving this look a go, we love this geometric black and white top from ethical fashion retailer Komodo. It’s not only bang on trend – it’s made from a mixture of eco-friendly hemp and organic cotton (and it’s currently in the sale - bargain!).

If you’ve got a bigger budget to play with, you’ll love this season’s range from Stella McCartney. Stella is well known for producing ethical fashion that steers clear of animal products – and this Spring her range is one of the most exciting yet.

We particularly love her upcoming range of footwear that includes chunky loafers and 70s-style platforms. The range channels the sporty vibe that is destined to be dominant this season, but maintains a sense of glamour, too.

It’s worth noting that Stella’s footwear is made using her own signature biodegradable material called APINAT. It’s animal free and much better for the environment than conventional rubber soles. Any wood used in making the shoes is also sustainably sourced.

So although buying a piece from the Stella McCartney range is more expensive than shopping with other ethical fashion brands, we’re definitely flagging the collection as one of the ones to watch this season. And if you have the spare cash, why not treat yourself?

Waist-cinching wide belts are also tipped to be a top choice for ethical fashion followers this Spring. The style is showcased perfectly in some of the latest catwalk images from Edun.

Edun is a popular ethical fashion brand, founded by Ali Hewson, who also happens to be the wife of U2 frontman Bono. Despite being a long-standing stalwart of ethical fashion, the brand continues to innovate and delight with its designs that capture the trends of the moment.

But it’s not just ethical clothing that’s hot this Spring. There is plenty to get excited about in terms of accessories, too.

Check out the latest pieces from up-and-coming sculptural jewellery brand Ute Decker. The designs are minimalist and stunning – and they only use fair-trade gold, 100% recycled silver and recycled packaging.

It used to be tricky to find ethical accessories – particularly jewellery – that didn’t involve compromising on style – but thanks to Ute Decker, the hunt is over.

So whether you are looking for a vibrant new dress or a statement necklace, there’s an abundance of ethical fashion to get your heart racing this Spring. Bring on the sunshine!
